So, I just moved my personal websites over from shared hosting on Dreamhost over to a really nice company called Digital Ocean (referral link). They allow you to create a VPS, virtual private server, stored on SSD raid arrays for stupid cheap prices.

Mind you, this is not for the faint of heart if you have never managed servers before. Did I mention it is PRIVATE? I had been meaning to do this for some time, and man has it paid off. It gives me complete control over my setup and costs less than my Dreamhost account.

In addition, I just switched my blog from running on WordPress over to a new application called Ghost.

Well, what is Ghost?

Ghost is an Open Source application which allows you to write and publish your own blog, giving you the tools to make it easy and even fun to do. It's simple, elegant, and designed so that you can spend less time making your blog work and more time blogging.

This app is great! You write in Markdown, it formats on the fly with a preview. The system is very clean and easy to use.
